About Panse Mandal

After retiring in 1924, Assistant Engineer Keshav Ranganath Panse worked tirelessly for the next four years, collecting old records, genealogies and wrote a history of about 500 years of the Panse family. This history could be published because of the generous financial support of Mrs. Sitabai Savalaram Panse and Shri Gahininath Madhavrao Panse. In 1973, Mr. Sadashiv Keshav, son of Keshav Ranganath, retired from the Income Tax Department and, like his father, loved the Panse Mandali and wanted to publish a second edition of the history of the Panse Mandali with newly available information. Mr. Konddev Savalaram, son of Mrs..Sitabai Savalaram Panse, took the initiative (in Rasta Peth Education Society’s Secondary School of which he was the Principal) and held the first meeting some time in March 1973. Mahamahoshadhyaya Datto Vaman Potdar wrote an introduction for the history of the Panse family in 1928. In it, he said that all the Panse congregations should come together and establish the Kul Sammelan (Family Union) organization on a cooperative basis as soon as possible, so that the Panse congregation can be improved in every way.

It was the beginning of present Panse Mandal. Shri. Manohar Bhaskar, Konddev Sawalaram, Sadashiv Keshav, Dr. Keshav Vishnu, Digambar Vishnu, Digambar Vinayak, Bhimashankar Vishwanath, Vasant Krishna. Many Panses from their native villages and those who had settled in Pune for livelihood, gathered together. The target of that time was the second edition of the history of the Panse family. It was published in 1978 with the efforts of all. On that occasion, the Panse congregation in Pune met from time to time, but the main problem was money. At that time, almost all Panse congregations belonged to the lower middle class. Therefore, if you want to do any program, you have to get money first. At that time, Panse Mandal was  rewarded it received a famous and generous person as the president - Govind Bhaskar aka Nanasaheb. In the eyes of the general society, Shri Nanasaheb Panse was an accomplished lawyer. Due to his brilliant intelligence and fearless attitude, the Panse congregation had a different enthusiasm to work with Nanasaheb. He also was financial support for heavy expenses.

For about 16 years from 1973 to 1989, the Panse Mandal was the platform of the 'Panse Mandal' meeting only 2-4 times a year. When Shri Konddev Savalaram was in office in 1990, he got the constitution of the Panse Mandal done and also registered the Panse Mandal with the Charity Commissioner. In the Panse Mandal of the last generation there were many members in the field of education. One of them was Shri Vasant Krishna. He was a teacher in Bharat English School.
